Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative offers three distinct product lines for our customers to choose from. Our programs are consistently recognized by industry as exceptional, and they are consistently verified by third parties and our customers as exceeding both government and industry standards. Every bird across all three programs is raised cage-free, without steroids or growth promotants. Our three product lines are as follows:
Organic
VPGC administers a proprietary organic program to raise turkeys that carry the Certified Organic seal that is given by the United States Department of Agriculture. Each Organic farm gives the birds a unique environment with extra space within the barn and daily access to the outside where they are free to roam. These turkeys are never treated with antibiotics throughout their life, and are fed an all vegetarian diet that contains 100% organic ingredients including non-GMO grains and no animal by-products.
No Antibiotics Ever
Our NAE program turkeys receive no antibiotics at any point in their life, from the day of hatching to the day of processing. The turkeys are fed a specially formulated, all vegetarian diet that is free from any animal by-products. These growers manage their farms according to our special set of standards for NAE birds, and our entire NAE program is Process Verified by the United States Department of Agriculture.
Conventional
Our conventional turkey program has been with us since the beginning of our company. Our growers and employees have been working with this turkey category for generations, and we stand by the excellent quality that they produce. These birds are fed a diet that is specially formulated by an animal nutritionist, and only given antibiotics when deemed medically necessary by our veterinarian.
At Virginia Poultry Growers Cooperative, we are proud of our specialty programs. We believe that they provide our customers with excellent quality turkey that consumers are asking for. However, it is important to note that we are committed to animal health and welfare, and always strive to provide an animal friendly environment. If at any time our veterinarian deems it necessary to treat a flock to maintain their health and welfare, those birds are removed from our Organic or NAE programs and placed in our Conventional program. We will never withhold treatment and sacrifice bird health and wellness.
